Kallas: EU Commits to U.S. While Pursuing Global Partnerships
Addressing the German Marshall Fund’s Brussels Forum 2025, Kallas highlighted that although the EU treasures its bond with Washington, Europe cannot afford to overlook fresh chances to broaden its network of global allies.
“We still value the relationship with what we have with the Americans. But it doesn't mean that we can't build other relationships,” she emphasized.
Kallas pointed out that many nations worldwide regard Europe as a dependable and consistent partner, creating a “unique opportunity window” for the EU to elevate its geopolitical influence.
Rejecting any notion that Europe is distancing itself from the US, she characterized the shifting dynamics as a sign of the relationship’s maturation.
“We are with the Americans not growing apart, but growing up in our relationship,” Kallas stated.
She added, “We have other friends. We have additional friends.”
